This image is dated May 1937 when villagers celebrated the Coronation of King George V1 with a parade. The location of this image is Back Lane.
The house extreme left being part of East View. The end shop part of the three houses was Thackers shop.
A bonus here is the small building that appears to be behind East View is the Primitive Methodist Chapel, note the 5 feet high wall up the path and the Notice Board.
The buildings in the centre background - 3 windows and 1 chimney is Thirteen Row (numbers 11,12,13). Enquiries continuing (as at July 2007) to identify the persons in the image.

Miss Shirley West. Her attendants L to R. were: Miss Pat Millward and Miss Gina Tuckwood.
On the right of Miss Shirley West was ???? and ????.

Mr Kitch. Todd. The woman in front is Mrs Beattie Audis with her son ??? on his tricycle.
Harry Woodward is standing by the wall as an onlooker. Arthur Dickenson is driving the tractor.

The photograph was most probably taken on the Miners Welfare Recreation Ground, Palterton.
The year c.1950 is a guess, it could have been as late as 1952.

This image: L to R. Sheila Holmes (later Mrs Jenkins), Bowman Wildgoose, Ellen (Nellie) Rimmington (later Mrs Edwards).
Both Sheila Holmes and Nellie Rimmington were superb in their choice of fancy dress outfits over several years.
No doubt Sheila was assisted and encouraged by her mother and aunt Miss Bunting, whilst Nellie also had a flair
for these occasions. She was well known in the village for her expertise in jam making and fruit preserves.
