Another image of the Coronation parade 1937- note the banner on the chimney - Long may they reign.
   This image is dated May 1937 when villagers celebrated the Coronation of King George V1 with a parade.  The location of this image is Back Lane.
   The house extreme left being part of East View. The end shop part of the three houses was Thackers shop.
   A bonus here is the small building that appears to be behind East View is the Primitive Methodist Chapel, note the 5 feet high wall up the path and the Notice Board.
   The buildings in the centre background - 3 windows and 1 chimney is Thirteen Row (numbers 11,12,13).  Enquiries continuing (as at July 2007) to identify the persons in the image.

Carnival Queen V.E. Day 1945

   The 1945 carnival to celebrate the end of the 1939-45 war.  On this occasion the Carnival Queen was
   Miss Shirley West.  Her attendants L to R. were:  Miss Pat Millward and Miss Gina Tuckwood.
   On the right of Miss Shirley West was ???? and ????.

A Parade either Silver Jubilee or 1937 Coronation.

   The woman pushing the pram is Mrs Ellen Spray formerly Turner.  The man by her side is
   Mr Kitch. Todd.  The woman in front is Mrs Beattie Audis with her son ??? on his tricycle.
   Harry Woodward is standing by the wall as an onlooker.  Arthur Dickenson is driving the tractor.

   The identities of the subjects are : L to R. Harriett Robins, Eric Calow, Clara Calow, Audrey Calow and Joyce Calow.

   The identities of the subjects are : L to R. Clara Calow, Audrey Calow, Harriett Robins, possibly Jessie Robins
   and man not yet identified.

Fancy dress at the Carnival c.1950*
   This image shows:  L to R.  Paulin Machin.  2. Timothy State, son of Gina State formerly Tuckwood.
   3. Pat Tuckwood, daughter of George and Mabel Tuckwood and sister of Gina mentioned at 2.
   The photograph was most probably taken on the Miners Welfare Recreation Ground, Palterton.
   The year c.1950 is a guess, it could have been as late as 1952.

Farmers Fancy Dress, location Hardwick Inn in room now (2007) used as restaurant, year unknown c.1938
   This image:  L to R. Sheila Holmes (later Mrs Jenkins), Bowman Wildgoose, Ellen (Nellie) Rimmington (later Mrs Edwards).
   Both Sheila Holmes and Nellie Rimmington were superb in their choice of fancy dress outfits over several years.
   No doubt Sheila was assisted and encouraged by her mother and aunt Miss Bunting, whilst Nellie also had a flair
   for these occasions.  She was well known in the village for her expertise in jam making and fruit preserves.

   the wall on the right being part of what was known as Orchard Terrace.  I believe the photographer was standing in the 'gennel' between the houses.
